There are around eighty golf courses in Portugal. Many have been designed by famous architects, such as Henry Cotton, Rocky Roquemore and Arnold Palmer, and they all share environmental quality and harmoniously blend into the landscape.
We selected the golf courses close by, starting near Vale da Palha moving south to Lisbon.
- Praia D'El Rey Golf

Praia D'El Rey is set among extensive pine forests and undulating dunes, with spectacular views over the Atlantic and the Berlengas Islands beyond. The 18-hole golf course was designed by the renowned American golf architect Cabell B.Robinson and was inaugurated on 14th June 1997. Deep bunkers, sloping greens and sandy dunes contrast sharply with the lush fairways, making it the complete golfing challenge. Praia D'El Rey is rated amongst the top golf courses in Europe by Golf World Magazine.
The course is a mixture of seaside links and parkland holes with a par of 73, offering the golfer a unique experience. Players are required to have a valid golf handicap certificate. Minimum handicap requirements are men 36, ladies 36.
- Bom Sucesso Design Golf

The Golf Course covers an area of more than 60 hectares, on the banks of the Óbidos Lagoon and quite close to the sea. It stretches along the lenght of BOM SUCESSO - Architecture Resort, Leisure & Golf, on a hillside with spectacular views of the sea and the lagoon, landscaped with lush Mediterranean vegetation and occasional exotic species. Hundreds of old olive trees have been planted on the resort, combined with camellias, azaleas and magnolias, giving this golf course a unique setting, in a combination of green and blue.

The golf course drawn up by Seve Ballesteros is really versatile, from the Championship tees it measures 6,765 meters, from the professional tees 6,525 ms and from the yellow tees 6,170 meters. This means that it adapts perfectly to all handicaps, for men, as for ladies. Several holes have lakes and streams, which in addition to being important hazards, it ads spectacularity and beauty. The first hole of Royal Obidos, a difficult right handed dogleg, heads north, setting up a spectacular combination of holes overlooking the lagoon of Obidos. The highlight of the back nine is the 12th, a 420m par 4, where the golfer has to negotiate both the drive and the second shot between and over two lakes and the curving stream.

This is a very fascinating and competitive golf course. Framed within a natural landscape environment, where trees almost touch the limits of the fairways, Golden Eagle Golf Course forces players to go around eight lakes and 87 bunkers of uncommon size. Designed by the U.S. architect Rocky Roquemore, the course covers 90 hectares, and is framed by a landscape in which beautiful local flora and gentle pines, decorative eucalyptuses and acacias all stand out. Its design is typical of the modern U.S. school, which means target golf is the most important point. The course totals 6,200 metres of championship tees for a Par 72 (37+35).

The renowned designer Donald Steel created an exciting and magnificent par 72 golf course with 18 holes, which opened in 2005. Located near the magnificent West Coast, the field of 6.009m runs through the hills of this rugged terrain course. Steep slopes and wooded valleys provide a series of challenges to give pleasure to golfers every time they play. The first nine holes are the most challenging. The 17th hole is the most picturesque, offering a magnificent view of the resort and vineyard as he/she nears the end of the game.
